Dealing with Activity, Nutrition and Self-Esteem (DANSE)
WHAT is the DANSE program?
- The DANSE program was developed to give young women between the ages of 11 - 19 the opportunity to develope lifelong healthy habits. The program includes the following:
- Dance Workout Classes (Hip-hop, jazz, funk, Afro-Brazilian)
- Body Sculpting
- Aerobics
- Nutrition Education Workshops (for parents and teens)
- My Self-Esteem/Image Workshops
WHO is eligible?
- This program is for young women between the ages of 11 - 19. All participants must have parental consent and be willing to complete evaluation materials as well as attend all activities associated with the program.
WHERE will the program take place?
- All DANSE program activities will usually be held at the site that adopts the program. If, however, the site does not have the space needed to run a safe program a site close to the adopted site will be chosen.
WHEN does the program start?
- Start times for the program will vary based on the location of the program. Regarless of the start date, each session will last for a 20 or 40 week period.
